Ludhiana – Clad in black robes with colorful scarves on proud shoulders, a large number of pass-outs from Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana were conferred degrees during the Annual Convocation of the college, here today. As many as 415 degrees were awarded to grandaunts of B.A, B.Com, BCA, and BBA in addition to Honours and Post-Graduate classes of M.A. (English), M.Com, PGDMC, and PGDCA. The jubilant soiree consisted of a large number of guests, including the college governing body and the parents of the wards. Hon’ble, Syed Haider Shah, Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Welcoming the Chief Guest, Principal Mrs. Manjit Kaur Ghuman read the college report, accompanied by a power point presentation glorifying the achievements of the students and the members of the faculty in curricular and co-curricular activities.On this occasion, S. Paramjit Singh Sarna and S. Harvinder Singh Sarna (President and Vice- President, College Governing Body, respectively) addressed the audience and appreciated the efforts made by the chief guest of today to make it possible to reach the function. He also thanked the Pakistan Government for granting permission to the pilgrims to visit the gurudwaras situated there and also taking care of the religious places in a very sacred manner.
The Chief Guest conferred the degrees upon the students and felicitated the special awardees with 19 Roll of Honours, 14 College Colours and 17 Merit Certificates.
While delivering the convocation address, Mr. Shah congratulated the degree holders and prize winners. He stressed on five important key elements which should be kept in mind by the students – faith in yourself, commitment to learning, resilience, sense of responsibility and empathy.
This red carpet event was further embellished with the release of Placement Brochure by the Chief Guest.On the occasion, Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochhar, an eminent literary personality today was presented with an Award of Honour for her achievements in Punjabi literature.The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Er. Gurvinder Singh, General Secretary of the college governing body.
