Eid turned tragic for families whose members died in a terrible bus accident in Dubai. Clashing into a height barrier the bus’s left side was completely destroyed due to which passengers on that side died on the spot.
As per the sources, the bus was coming from Oman’s capital Muscat to Dubai and was carrying approximately 31 passengers when it crashed into a height barrier that cut the left side of the bus. It had wrongly entered a road not designated for buses towards Al Rashidiya metro station here.
Rewinding the horrible accident, an injured passenger Nidhin Laji said “There was blood everywhere. Most people who were sitting on the left side died on the spot. Blood and flesh were all over the seats as the metal plate scythed through the vehicle, I began to help a woman who was screaming. She was injured and her husband had died in the accident. I am lucky to survive. But I feel sorry for those who died in the accident.”
Another victim Zidan Firoz lost his parents in the accident and is terribly jolted after hearing the news. On the other hand, Manisha, who cancelled her travel due to some urgent work, lost her husband and cousin. She said “I still cannot believe it. I spoke to my husband in the afternoon and he said he was on his way back. I had no idea about the accident until Roshni’s brother called me. I then called the police and was told my husband was no more. I rushed to the police station only to find out that even my cousin was dead. I am devastated,”
In the accident, 17 people died out of which 15 died on the spot and 2 lost the battle in the hospital. Unfortunately, out of all the deceased, 12 were Indian who suffered a painful death. Rest of the people sitting on the right side suffered minor injuries and some of them are discharged.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, urged drivers to pay attention while driving.
