Adulteration in food, regular intake of junk food, and flawed habits have become a lifestyle of the generation. As per the latest report, child expectancy ratio will adversely decrease by 2041 in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Predicted by the current health issues, lifestyle changes and preferences of the people of Punjab, it is evident that within 20 years child expectancy ratio is going to fall from 35.8% to 21%.
As per the data presented by the Parliament, the population growth rate in 2011 was 1.29% in Punjab out of which the percentage of youth from 0 to 19 years was more than 35.8%. Looking at the current scenario, with increasing working men and women, change in life expectancy ration and increasing social-economic trend, Punjab may suffer from childlessness by the end of 2041.
