A friend became a murderer, killed for money

‘Financial problems and unemployment can adversely affect a person physically as well as mentally.’ We all have heard about this, but money problems can also turn a friend into a murderer that is quite shocking. But, this happened in Jagroan, Ludhiana where a friend kidnapped and then killed his young friend for ransom.

As per the sources, Anmol Uppal (14) was studying in VII class who went out to meet his friend Gurbir Singh Gaiby (23) near bus stand. The accused kidnapped minor and sent an encrypted message to his friend Harjot demanding Rs 20 Lakh ransom. Panicked by the message, he went to the victim’s mother (Panch) who floated the message in Malak Village. The Jagraon Police searched the victim for three days but then Ludhiana rural police found the body from a canal in the area on Wednesday evening. Cops said villagers approached Ludhiana rural police and a kidnapping case was registered at Sadar Jagraon police station.

Police officials while investigating the matter said: “Gaiby was always the prime suspect as Anmol was last seen with him.” The police have taken Gaiby into custody where it was found that he was unemployed and village leader of a political party’s youth wing.
