The GRP and RPF together conduced a surprise check at the city railway station on Monday. The checks were conducted in the wake of alert sounded in the country due to terrorist strikes in border areas. GRP SHO Inderjit Singh said a dog squad accompanied the force in checking trains and searching the belongings of passengers.
Some suspected persons were also questioned and frisked by the police. The SHO said no objectionable material was recovered during this drive, adding that such drives would be continued in future as well to keep a check over anti-social elements.
