International Conference on Science and Technology held at College in Ludhiana


International Conference at GGN Khalsa college

Ludhiana – Adding one more pearl in the garland of achievements, in continuation of Centenary celebrations, the Department of Science of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, started a two-day International Conference, on the topic Science and Technology: Trends and Challenges. More than 350 research papers have been received because of the support and collaboration of Punjab Academy of Sciences, Patiala. Dr. R.K. Kohli, honorable Vice Chancellor, Central University, Bathinda, and Dr. R. S. Khandpur, Former Director, Pudhpa Gujral Science City, Jalandhar, graced the occasion with their benign presence as chief guest and guest of honor respectively. Dr. I. J. S. Bansal, President, Punjab Academy of Sciences, also spared time from his busy schedule to witness the event. Research scholars and teachers from various universities actively participated in the conference.

The event started with the traditional Shabad Gaayan by the college students. Applauding the endeavors of the faculty of Department of Science on completion of hundred years of the existence of the institution. Dr. S. P. Singh, Honorary General Secretary, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar), said that the Department has done a commendable job by organizing an International Conference. Sharing his views on the progress and development of science, he said that this progress has not only helped the human beings but has also brought challenges into the life.

College Principal, Dr. Arvinder Singh while introducing the topic of the conference said that there has been a revolution in the fields of science, information and technology in past few years which has decreased the distance of times, place and distance. He said that the main objective of this conference is to provide a platform to the teachers as well as to the students of Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, to explore, learn and share the changing and upcoming technologies in the field of Sciences.

In his keynote address, Dr. I. J. S. Bansal emphatically said that the nation can progress if there is progress in science and technology. He said that the Indian scientists and technocrats have carved their names in gold in their respective fields. The countries which have excelled in technology are the ones that are considered the developed countries. Dr. Jagtar Singh informed about the history, objectives, and activities of Punjab Academy of Sciences. Dr. R.S. Khandpur discussed that the science and technology used in Pushpa Gujral Science City is a media through which common people can learn about the development of science and technology. In his presidential address, Dr. R. K. Kohli applauded and acknowledged the efforts done by the college management committee, principal, and teachers to keep the progressive attitude alive by organizing this international conference. He said that the youth of the nation must participate and encourage others to get involved in such kind of activities which are related to science and technology so that the nation can progress with their progress.
