Major Chitresh Bisht, who was martyred near the Line of Control while diffusing the landmines of Rajouri district of Jammu & Kashmir, was about to get married in March 2019. His body has reached his native place in Dehradun where his family, relatives and near ones are in immense grief. After getting the information about Land Mines in Naushera Sector on Saturday, Bisht formed and was leading the Bomb Disposal Squad.
Under Bisht’s leadership, the squad has successfully disposed one landmine, but, while working in another tunnel, one of the mines exploded, in which Major was seriously injured and later died. As soon as the news of Major Bisht’s demise reached his house on Saturday night, all the relatives reached his house in Nehru Colony and paid their condolences to his parents.
A source from the family informed that Bisht’s marriage was fixed on March 7th, 2019 and he was going to go home on 28th February 2019. Major Bisht’s Father is a retired policeman and his mother is a housewife who resides in the Almora District of Ranikhet.
Chief Minister Trivandrum Singh Rawat consoled on his death and tweeted “I Salute to the Supreme Sacrifice given by Major Bisht while serving the country and express my deep condolences to the Martyr’s Family. At this hour of misery, the entire country is standing beside the family.” Alongside former chief minister Harish Rawat, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Baby Rani Maurya also expressed their condolences on the demise. State BJP President Ajay Bhatt, party MLA Vinod Chamoli and Umesh Sharma Kau also reached Major’s house to pay their tribute.
