The Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an employee of the Municipal Corporation while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 13,500. He has been identified as Amarjit Singh, who is a baildar in the MC, and is posted in Zone C.
The complainant, Major Singh had filed a complaint with the Vigilance Bureau. He owns a house and he required TS-1 from the MC. When he visited the Zone C office, he met Amarjit who claimed himself a clerk and demanded Rs 25,000 as bribe to get his file prepared. However, the deal was stuck at Rs 15,000.
“Recently when I visited the MC office, Amarjit demanded Rs 15,000. But I pacified him by giving Rs 1,500 as advance. Amarjit then asked me to pay the remaining amount only then my documents will be prepared. Later, I came to know that Amarjit is not a clerk, rather he is just a baildar. I decided to teach him a lesson,” the complainant said.
After receiving the complaint, sleuths of the bureau laid a trap and nabbed Amarjit red-handed.
A case under section 7 and 13 (2) of PC Act has been registered against him.
