National Moot Court Competition held at PURC Ludhiana


Ludhiana – Day 3 of National Moot court competition which was held at PURC from 8th- 10th February 2019 started with full enthusiasm and zest. Moot Court Competition is a fine medium for the future legal counsels to engage comprehensively in intricate deliberations to frame their arguments in context with the proposition and learn the art of advocacy to polish their skills. The theme of the competition was crime of Femicide and Rape. Twenty teams from different law colleges like The Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar University, Chennai; Delhi Metropolitan Education, Noida; Amity Law School, Noida; Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad; Symbiosis Law School, Pune; Christ (Deemed To Be University), Bangalore; Law Centre -1, Faculty of Law, University Of Delhi; ICFAI University, Dehradun; School of Law, UPES Dehradun; Llyod Law College, Noida; The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodra; Sharda University School of Law, Noida; Indore Institute of Law, Indore; Army Institute of Law, Mohali; Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh; University Institute of Legal Studies, P.U. Chandigarh; Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; Guru Nanak Dev Uni.

Regional Campus, Ladhewali; V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Goa And Universal Group of Institutions participated in this competition. Exhibiting their extraordinary advocacy skills all enthusiastic students performed exceptionally well throughout the event. Sr. Adv. P.S. Ghuman, Adv. H.S. Bir, Adv. Harish Rai Dhanda and Adv. A.K. Jindal adjudged the semi-final rounds and the Final Round was adjudged by Adv. Pawan Kumar Ghai, Adv. K.C. Gupta and Adv. Bikram, Sidhu. Eminent members of the Bar Association and Ludhiana Judiciary also adjudged the prelims and quarter final rounds of the competition. Director PURC, Dr. Ravi Inder Singh expressed his elation to host such a great event. While welcoming the dignitaries in the Valedictory Ceremony, Director PURC said, such a kind of event is regularly organised in the Regional Centre for the holistic development of the students.

S. Gurbir Singh, District and Sessions Judge, Ludhiana graced the occassion as the Chief Guest and S. T.S.Bindra, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Ludhiana as Guest of Honor for the Valedictory Function. During this three day event paving their way through tough yet healthy competition, participants gained a whole new experience. Exhibiting exceptional display of advocacy skills, Krithika Dineshan from Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore was awarded the Best Mooter and a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- ; Army Institute of Law, Mohali was awarded The Best Memorial and a cash prize of Rs. 3000/-; Madhav Mittal from University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh was awarded The Best Researcher and a cash prize of Rs. 3000/- ; Shivalik Thaman, Aaryan and Devyang Bahri from Army Institute of Law,Mohali were declared the First Runner Up and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 11000/- and Arvind Mohan, Kritika Dineshan and Mugdha from Christ(Deemed to be University), Banglore took home the winning trophy and cash prize of Rs. 21000/- . The Chief Guest, S. Gurbir Singh and The Guest of Honour, S. T.S. Bindra while addressing the universe of intellectuals expressed his elation to be part of such event. They congratulated the winners and encouraged not only the participants but also other students to take part in more such competitions and give their best to excel the advocacy skills. The conveners of the event, Dr. Aman Amrit Cheema, Dr. Ashish Virk and Dr. S.K. Dogra thanked the participants and the guests for their help and encouragement throughout the event.
