Qawwali Competition organised by Sahodaya Schools in Ludhiana


Ludhiana – Sahodaya Schools Complex Qawali Competition was hosted by Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar. 15 teams from various schools of the city participated in it. The judges for the competition were Ustad Shauket Ali, Manak Ali and Akhtar Ali who are highly acclaimed Qawali singers of our country. The event began with the auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony by S. Surinder Singh, President, GNPS Managing Committee. He welcomed the teams and said that these events provide a platform to nurture the latent talent.

The performances of students featured different genres of Qawali. Through some Qawalis the students spread the message of peace and equality while through others the students created an atmosphere of sanctity with the continuous recital of names of God Almighty in a specific tune and tempo. The rich, sensual and spiritual words and the intense music using various instruments had a hypnotic and ecstatic effect on the audience.

Mrs. Parvinder Kaur, Principal, GNPS, felicitated the winners and appreciated the amazing vocal skills, the passion and the spirituality displayed by the students.
