Road Safety Awareness Campaign held in Ludhiana

Legal Aid clinic constituted at University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Center Ludhiana in collaboration with traffic police officials had organized Awareness campaign on traffic rules in different traffic post in the city of Ludhiana on 17th November 2018. The main focus was to raise awareness about traffic signals and Road etiquette amongst the people. Dr. Neelam Batra incharge legal Aid clinic throwing light on the campaign said, “we are trying to inform people about the rules through these campaigns, Street plays and various workshops”. The student of Punjab University Regional Centre under the guidance of Neelam Batra used colourful posters and banners encouraging commuters to wear helmets and seatbelts while driving. Flowers and sweets were distributed to commuters found following traffic rules.A street play was also showcased by the student during this drive at Bharat Nagar chowk to generate awareness about the various guidelines issued by Apex court so as to encourage the people to help the road accident victims. Prof. Ravi Inder Singh Director, P.U, Regional Centre Ludhiana has been always big Support behind this events. Director highly appreciated the efforts of Legal Aid Clinic and Traffic Police, Ludhiana and motivated the students to council people to comply with traffic rules.

Mr. Gurdev Singh ACP (Traffic) who was also present on the occasion said, “the traffic Cops are making all possible efforts to make the people aware about basic traffic rules during this drive”. A training programme was also conducted one day before at PURC with assistance of Mr. Gurdev Singh where the Traffic Education team gave training to students for making this drive a successful event.
