Safe Fraternity Week Observed by IMA Doctors in Ludhiana

IMA Ludhiana observed Doctor’s day at IMA house as Safe fraternity week and held a Press conference. During the press conference, Dr. Manoj Sobti, Member Punjab medical council & Past President IMA Punjab, informed that they are for Zero tolerance against violence. The govt. should effectively implement “prevention of violence and damage to the property act 2008”. According to act violence in any act causing injury to doctor or paramedical staff. If a doctor is obstructed from doing his duty that is also violence.

The offender can be punished up to 1 year imprisonment or Rs. 50000 fine or both. Dr. Arun Gupta, President IMA Ludhiana, informed that this act is non-bailable and triable only by first class magistrate. The offender will pay a penalty of twice the amount of purchase price of medical equipment damaged or loss cause to property. Dr. Karamvir, Vice president IMA Punjab, told that if the offender is not paying the fine, it is recoverable from his land revenues. Dr. P.S Jassal informed that the day is celebrated in the memory of Dr. B.C Roy. Dr. Avinash jindal, Dr.pritpal, Dr. Dheeraj Aggarwal, Dr. Saroj Aggarwal , Dr. Bimal Kanish, Dr. Gagandeep , Dr. Monika Dhawan, Dr. A. S. Dua & Dr. N.K Aggarwal were also present.
