Singer Pammi Bai conferred Sangeet Natak Akademi Award

Punjabi folk singer Paramjeet Singh Sidhu, more popularly called Pammi Bai, was conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award on Tuesday evening by President Pranab Mukheerjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi for his zealous contribution to the world of Punjabi folk music.

Besides this honour, the 55-year-old had been conferred the Shiromani Punjabi Award in 2009 and Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006.

On Wednesday, while returning to his home town of Patiala, Pammi Bai, while talking to HT over the phone, said that he dedicated the honour to all his fans and all those who loved Punjabi folk music and, most importantly, to the Punjabi language.
