Ayushmann Khurrana is ready to woe the audience again in his upcoming socio-political drama ‘Article 15’. Having played critically acclaimed roles of a sperm donor and a blind man, the actor is set to play the role of a cop in his upcoming movie ‘Article 15’.
Article 15’s trailer was released on 30th May by Zee Music Company and has been watched over 4.6 million times. The film begins with horrifying scenes of rape, communal riots and two girls hanging with a tree – “These people aren’t able to see me and you, sometimes we become Harijan and sometimes we become Bahujan but we are not able to become Jan (humans).”
The movie follows a cop (Ayushmann Khurrana) who is trying to solve the murder case of two women which is earlier staged as a case of honour killing but on an investigation is found to be a lesson the victims were given for demanding a raise of Rs. 3.
Article 15 of the constitution says, “The State shall not discriminate against any citizen on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them.”
While talking about the movie, director Anubhav Sinha had commented, “It is an investigative drama where the audience too is an accused party. It is a very challenging film that needed an extraordinary actor like Ayushmann. Delighted to have him on board with an explosive bundle of such talented and acclaimed actors.”
While Ayushmann had said, “I’m always intrigued by the socio-political situation of our country. We hardly see films which present the situation in an unbiased way. And it will be an absolute pleasure to work with him (Anubhav) on Article 15.” Article 15 is set to release on 28 June.
